Planned Gifts and Legacy Society Membership

To honor and recognize those who have made a planned gift in support of our organization, Norwood Life Care Foundation established The Legacy Society.
Membership in The Legacy Society is open to those who notify Norwood Life Care Foundation that they have provided for the future of our organization through a planned gift arrangement.
The Legacy Society seeks to recognize those whose support allows our organization to make long-term plans. Through planned gifts, you have the satisfaction of securing the future of our organization for generations to come. We are most grateful to current members of The Legacy Society and extend a warm welcome to those considering membership.

A Legacy Realized: Roy and Agnes Christiansen
Two of Norwood's most dedicated volunteers were Roy and Agnes Christiansen. Roy, of Norwegian heritage, joined the Nordic Club and later the Norwegian Old Peoples Home Society. He eventually was asked to join the Board of Directors, serving as President from 1967-1969. Even after his term as President ended, Roy remained involved, and was a key volunteer during the construction of the 1975 building. Roy met Agnes as colleagues at Peoples Gas. Agnes became involved with the Home as well-- in fact, both of their mothers eventually came to live at Norwood Park Home. Both Roy and Agnes cared deeply about Norwood and both made provisions in their will to support our organization. Roy passed away in 2003 and Agnes passed in July 2011. Their generous gift to Norwood Life Care Foundation will allow us to serve our seniors in a way that would surely make Roy and Agnes proud. Their legacy of selfless volunteerism lives on through their generous bequest in support of our seniors.
Benefits of Membership
Members of The Legacy Society assist our organization in taking on the challenges of the present for the benefit of future generations.

With permission, we recognize all individuals by inscribing their name on The Legacy Society Wall of Honor located in the Mulligan Lobby* at Norwood Crossing. In addition, members receive a token of appreciation, invitations to special events, tribute in our Foundation Review newsletter and Annual Report and always, our gratitude for their caring leadership. Also, as a not-for-profit 501(C)(3) organization, gifts to the Foundation qualify for charitable tax benefits to the extent allowed by law.

*Mulligan Lobby named for Joe and Marge Mulligan, founding members of The Legacy Society.
